Vion UK is to sell its poultry and red meat operations to 2 Sisters Food Group, securing the future of 6,000 jobs at 11 sites nationwide.

Vion UK has sold its pork division to a management team backed by private equity firm Endless, securing 4,000 jobs at sites in Malton, Wiveliscombe, Haverhill, Hull, Scunthorpe, Stoke, Enfield and Cookstown.

Vion Foods is to invest £11m in the expansion of its pork processing plant at Cookstown in Tyrone, with the creation of 164 jobs.

Vion is expected to create up to 50 jobs at its Welsh Country Foods abattoir on Anglesey, in order to transfer meat packing from its site in Cheshire.

Vion is to set up a centre of excellence at its Halls meat processing plant in Broxburn, West Lothian, with the creation of 250 jobs next year.

Vion is to create 150 new jobs at its chicken processing plant in Coupar Angus and 100 jobs at its site in Cambuslang.

Vion and Banham Poultry have unveiled proposals to build a major new chicken processing plant at Eye in Suffolk, with the creation of up to 900 jobs.
