ScotRail Alliance has won approval from Midlothian Council to build a train stabling and cleaning depot in Millerhill by 2017, with the creation of about 50 jobs.

ScotRail Alliance has announced plans for a £475m upgrade to its train fleet in Scotland, including 70 new electric trains from 2017.

ScotRail is to create up to 100 train driver jobs at depots in Aberdeen, Ayr, Bathgate, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Gourock, Helensburgh, Inverness, Perth, Stirling and Tweedbank.

ScotRail is to create 69 new jobs to operate new ticket gates at four stations in Glasgow.

ScotRail has announced that 130 jobs will be created for train drivers and station staff with the opening of a new rail link between Glasgow and Edinburgh in December.

ScotRail is to expand its engineering depot in Inverness with the creation of eight jobs.

ScotRail is to invest £2m in improvements for the North Berwick to Edinburgh line, including the introduction of five class 322 trains by next spring.
