Scottish Telecom is to create about 500 jobs at its Call Centre Services division in Glasgow, to cope with an increase in business.

Scottish Telecom is creating more than 100 jobs at its CallCentre Service in Glasgow, having won more contracts to operate call centres for third parties.

Scottish Telecom, part of Scottish Power, is acquiring Demon Internet, the internet service provider, for £66m and the move is expected to give Demon the resources to expand further into mainland Europe.

Scottish Telecom, the Scottish Power communications business, is to combine its mobile services operation with the Scottish division of Martin Dawes Telecommunications enabling it to offer integrated fixed and mobile services and giving it access to Martin Dawes' advanced billing system.
