Sandvik Construction is to create 160 jobs at its Ballygawley-based crushing equipment plant, but up to 360 jobs will be lost at its plant in Swadlincote.

Sandvik has sold its 70,000 sq ft factory at Tile Hill in Coventry to RA Shield Holdings, the owner of the Woolley GMC engineering business, for undisclosed terms.

Sandvik of Sweden is to build a 112,500 sq ft orthopaedic implants manufacturing centre at the Beighton Link business park in Rotherham, having secured a £1.7m grant from Yorkshire Forward.

Sandvik is planning a multi-million-pound expansion at its recently-acquired Extec crushing and screening equipment business in Derbyshire, with the creation of 100 jobs.

Sandvik has acquired Extec, the Derbyshire-based supplier of crushing and screening equipment with annual turnover of £134m.
