Nike is planning to expand its chain of 30 sportswear stores with up to 30 new out-of-town sites over the next few years.

Nike is to open a 7,500 sq ft sports store at the Junction Shopping Park in West Thurrock in February, and could open a further three stores on retail parks in 2013.

Nike is to open a 30,000 sq ft flagship sports store on Glasgow's Buchanan Street in spring 2011.

Nike is looking to expand its chain of six sports stores with four new outlets of up to 10,000 sq ft in regional shopping centres this year.

Nike, the sportswear supplier, is to set up a new headquarters at the Doxford International business park in Sunderland, including space for almost double the 100-plus staff employed at its existing site nearby.

Nike is looking to open up to seven company-owned sportswear stores in the UK, with the first in central Manchester.

Nike is planning to open a further eight factory outlet stores in the UK by summer 2008, to add to the existing 16 sites.
