McKechnie, the aerospace and engineering company, is to undergo a £434m management buy-out with the support of the Cinven venture capital group.

McKechnie has sold its consumer products operations in the UK, US and Europe, to Newell Rubbermaid of the US for £81m, and the proceeds will be used to reduce debt.

McKechnie is acquiring PTM International, the US jet engine parts company, for up to £12m.

McKechnie has sold nine metals businesses in Australia and New Zealand to MCK Holdings for £65m, in order to raise funds to expand its remaining aerospace, engineered plastics, and fixings operations.

McKechnie is acquiring two US aircraft component companies - Arger and Jesse - for £54m in order to improve its engineering capabilities and gain access to blue-chip clients.

McKechnie has bought Dzus International, the fastener maker, for £15m.

McKechnie has acquired Plexicor Australia, the thermoforming and painting concern, for £14m.

McKechnie has bought Thompson, the US wheel trim maker, for £32m.
