Maersk Oil has won approval to expand its oil and gas operations to the North Sea's Culzean field, with the creation of 400 jobs.

Maersk Oil is to proceed with plans to develop a major gas discovery at the Culzean field east of Aberdeen, having selected KBR London as the engineering design contractor for the £3bn project.

Maersk Oil and BG Group are looking to develop the Culzean and Jackdaw oilfields in the North Sea, as part of a £6bn investment that will create 700 jobs.
