Intel has won permission to expand its European headquarters in Swindon with a new four-storey office block, which could create up to 300 jobs.

Intel is launching a recruitment drive in Wales and Scotland in order to meet the demand for up to 1,200 staff at its new £1.4bn semiconductor wafer manufacturing facility in Ireland.

Intel is opening a new data centre in Reading in order to run web sites and e-commerce operations for third parties, and it will employ 250 staff.

Intel is to set up its first European "server farm" at Winnersh near Reading, which will supply e-commerce computer capacity to corporate customers and create 170 jobs.
