Hyder has sold Phoenix Electrical, the specialist contractor to the construction industry, to a management team.

Hyder, the Welsh utility, is expected to be acquired by Western Power Distribution of the US for £565m, as the Takeover Panel has dismissed an attempt by Nomura to stop the deal.

Hyder, the water and electricity supplier, has agreed to a £402m takeover offer from Nomura International, and Nomura has pledged to keep the group headquarters in Cardiff.

Hyder is planning to set up a commercial customer call centre in Cwmbran for its business services division, with the creation of 300 jobs.

Hyder is to invest £30m in Lincoln in order to run financial services for Lincolnshire County Council, and up to 500 jobs will be created on top of the 700 employees being transferred from the council.

Hyder aims to attract about 800,000 customers when the Welsh domestic gas market is opened up to competition, and will recruit about 200 new staff to its Swalec Gas business.
