Generics and Siemens are forming a new Cambridge-based company called Sphere to develop a new method of using silicon chips to monitor the blood condition of hospital patients.

Generics is to float 30% of its shares, giving the group a valuation of £226m, in order to expand its Cambridge-based scientific and licensing business.

Generics Group, the Cambridge-based high technology consultancy, is looking to raise up to £50m in a flotation in order to fund international expansion and the acquisition of start-up companies.
