Freeport is seeking permission for a £5m expansion of its Talke designer outlet village in Staffordshire, which will involve a number of new stores and up to 75 new jobs.

Freeport is to start building a 241,000 sq ft retail outlet village in the Czech Republic in May, and has also secured approval to add a further 125,000 sq ft to the Fleetwood Village in Lancashire.

Freeport is planning to raise £49m in a rights issue to expand its chain of discount and designer shopping centres into 12 European countries.

Freeport Leisure, the operator of factory outlet sites, has 14 planning applications pending, and expects to achieve approval for six by the end of the year.

Freeport Leisure is set to start building the £40m Freeport Village in Castleford, which will include 140 retail outlets and should open next August.

Freeport Leisure is to open three retail centres over the next year, including a £20m centre near Newcastle-under-Lyme, a £45m centre in Castleford and a £35m centre in Braintree.

Freeport Leisure is to raise £63m in a rights issue in order to fund the development of two new discount factory outlets.

Freeport Leisure plans to develop a 154 acre site at Westwood, West Lothian, as well as expand its leisure complexes in Hornsea and Fleetwood.
