Ensus is planning a multi-million pound investment in environmental improvements to its recently-opened bioethanol plant on Teesside.

Ensus has reached agreement with Yara of Norway to build a £23m carbon capture facility at its bioethanol plant due to open at Wilton next year.

Ensus is looking to build a second bioethanol plant, either on Teesside or another location in Northern Europe.

Ensus has secured an investment of £250m to fund the development of a bioethanol plant at the Wilton International site near Middlesbrough by 2009, including £90m of private equity from Carlyle Group and Riverstone.
