Enquest is to invest up to £500m in the expansion of its UK oil and gas assets next year.

Enquest is planning a £4bn investment project to develop the Kraken oilfield in the North Sea, which could create 20,000 jobs.

Enquest is planning to set up a new eight-storey headquarters for its oil business and hundreds of staff on Palmerston Road in Aberdeen by late 2014.

Enquest expects to create 40 new jobs in Swansea over the next three years, as part of 1,000 new supply chain jobs being created nationwide from increased investment in the North Sea.

Enquest is said to be planning to invest £650m restarting the former Alma oilfield in the North Sea.
