Central Networks, the operator of electricity networks in the Midlands, is to be sold by Eon to PPL of the US for £3.7bn.

Central Networks is to create 150 new jobs at its electricity distribution operations in Gloucester, Worcester, Tipton, Moor Green, Stoke, Hinckley and Sleaford over the next 18 months.

Central Networks is planning to create 600 new jobs for electrical engineers and electricians, as part of a £1.3bn investment in electricity sub-stations, relay stations and underground cables across the Midlands.
