Carclo has raised £3.5m in a share placing to fund the expansion of its West Yorkshire-based technical plastics business.

Carclo is to sell CTP Gills Cables, the Tamworth-based cables manufacturer, and its 50% stake in CTP Suprajit Automotive of India to Suprajit Engineering for £2.2m.

Carclo is to sell its ECC Card Clothing business, including operations in the UK, France, Italy, Turkey, Canada, India, China and the US to NV Bekaert for up to £8.6m.

Carclo is to reduce the workforce at CTP Gills Cables in Lichfield from 220 to 100 and transfer the production of control cables to India, while the remaining technical and logistics operations will relocate to the outskirts of the town.

Carclo has sold Francis W Birkett & Sons, the non-ferrous castings business, to Westley Group for £2.4m.
