Rolls-Royce is to acquire Vickers for £576m in order to become a world leader in marine power systems. 21-Sep-1999

Vickers is to acquire Reumech, the South African-owned manufacturer of military vehicles, for up to £12m, and is also forming joint ventures with Mowag, Singapore Technologies, and Krauss Maffei Wegmann. 09-Sep-1999

Vickers is planning to close the Brown Brothers engineering plant in Edinburgh and merge the business with the Ulstein unit in Dunfermline, creating a combined division called Vickers Ulstein Marine Systems-UK. 03-Sep-1999
