Valeo, the French automotive engineering company, is to close two factories at Worksop and Gorseinon, South Wales, with the loss of 580 jobs. 26-Jan-2001 Valeo is planning to close its automotive door locks factory in Blyth, with the loss of 250 jobs, and work will be transferred to plants in Halifax and Wales. 19-Sep-2000 Ascot has sold Sagar Richards, the automotive gearbox components business, to Valeo of France for £8m. 15-Nov-1997 Valeo is to reorganise its European production of automotive components, which will involve the closure of some plants but additional investment at Gorseinon in Wales and Blyth in England. 25-Feb-1997 Valeo of France and Hella of Germany are to co-operate on the supply of replacement car headlamps to the UK in a move which will squeeze out smaller companies. 02-Feb-1996
