Racal Electronics Racal has closed its communications equipment factory in Seaton, Devon, with the loss of 109 jobs, and a buyer is being sought for the site. 03-Jul-2000 Racal Electronics has agreed to a £1.3bn takeover bid from Thomson-CSF of France, and Thomson's existing 6,000 UK employees are expected to be reorganised around Racal. 14-Jan-2000 Racal Electronics is said to be close to agreeing a takeover offer from Thomson-CSF of France, having held informal talks for about a year. 01-Jan-2000 Racal Electronics is to complete the review of its defence division by next March, and the most likely outcome appears to be the sale of the business to a European manufacturer. 09-Dec-1999 Racal Electronics has sold its telecoms business to Global Crossing of the US for £1bn, and some of the proceeds will be used to expand its industrial electronics and transportation services businesses. 12-Oct-1999 The information above comes from the UK Activity Report Copyright UK Business Park 1995-2007
