Merck

Merck is to acquire Schering-Plough for $41m, creating a global pharmaceuticals group with a combined UK workforce of almost 3,000 at sites including Hoddesdon, Cramlington, Welwyn Garden City, Newhouse and Milton Keynes. 11-Mar-2009

Merck Sharp & Dohme is to shed 60 jobs at its prescription medicines factory in Enfield, and plans are being drawn up to sell or close the site by the end of next year with the loss of the remaining 80 jobs. 15-Dec-2005
